Meta administrators are users who have been granted the technical ability to perform certain actions on Meta (some of which include deleting/undeleting pages, protecting/unprotecting pages and blocking/unblocking users). Their role is mainly to help Meta users and the community, as well as to maintain and protect it from vandalism and make sure that local policies are respected. They can also assign/remove basic user groups such as rollback, confirmed, and autopatrolled.
Users may be nominated or nominate themselves by placing a request on Hypoverse Meta:Requests for Permissions. Whenever the nomination is accepted (if nominated by someone else, otherwise submitting the request is immediate acceptation), a request must stay open for at least seven (7) days. During this period anyone from the community may Support — / Abstain — / Oppose — a candidate's request.
A request will be deemed successful when closed by a bureaucrat after achieving a 70% supermajority.
An administrator may lose their permissions if:
- A request of no confidence being opened against the user and has at least a 70% supermajority.
- The user is inactive from the community for a period of 6 months.
- The tools were misused. This will often lead to immediate dismissal without the need for a request of no confidence.
An administrator who lost their permissions for any reason must successfully re-apply for the group as described in the appointment section above.
On other wikis
sysop (administrator) user group is mostly the same on other wikis of the Hypoverse Network. Locally, administrators may be bound to different policies than here on Meta. It is up to the local communities of this wiki network to decide on expectations from their administrators.
